PROBLEM:
This wall shows severe water infiltration in which water is weeping out using a cotton rope (Wick). Saturated cotton will not weep for a long period of time as the moisture will break down the cotton and rot the fibers creating a dam over time. Water that reaches the base of this wall can go either inside or outside, as shown in the bed joint, all water is not weeping out of the cotton rope.

SOLUTION:
Install a flashing designed specifically for Single wythe walls such as BlockNet, which will ensure water that enters the cavity will definitely weep to the outside of the structure. If the contractor covered the walls during construction, most of this water would not be present within these walls.
PROBLEM:
This cotton weep rope is cut too short and will clog over time due to the cotton breaking down because of the heavy moisture passing through this split face block. Lime run is present indicating that this is a very active weep location within a fully completed and roofed building.

SOLUTION:
Installing BlockFlash, an embeddable flashing pan with mesh, water entering the cell and the face of the Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) can successfully be captured and directed to the face of the structure through a non-clogging weep that will stay clear of insects and debris for years.
PROBLEM:
When water is absorbed through the face of the CMU and has no way to escape through a weep, it will collect and pool within the cell. This CMU is above grade and has collected water for years.

SOLUTION:
Drain the water out of the cell by drilling a weep hole at the base of the wall at the slab. Install BlockNet on the exterior of the structure post construction, to capture the moisture that will continue to be absorbed into the CMU and provide a passage for weeping to the face of the wall. Consult with a water repellant professional.

BlockFlash is a complete, embeddable flashing solution for managing moisture in exterior single wythe CMU walls.  It uses patented flashing pans to collect moisture in the wall and channel it to the exterior through integrated weep spouts.  Its included drainage mesh provides hundreds of clear pathways for water to flow around mortar droppings inside the block cells so it can be collected by the pans.

The BlockNet CMU single wythe flashing solution reliably protects CMU walls from water infiltration damage.  Water in the block cells flows down the inside of the face of the cells through the BlockNet vertical mesh component and onto the horizontal stainless steel drainage section, which channels water out of the wall through the integrated horizontal drainage mesh element and drainage tabs.
